Tom and His Little Red Scooter

Written by Belinda Moss. Illustrated by Annabella Jane Heald.

In the colourful city of Cape Town, where Table Mountain kisses the clouds and the sea sparkles like diamonds, lived a very large tuxedo cat named Tom.

Every morning he loaded his scooter with warm banana bread and thoughtful gifts and rode through the Bo-Kaap, past the waves at Sea Point and around the parks where the children played. Whenever there was a frown, Tom would turn it upside down.

He bakes rainbow cakes so tall they need a ladder to frost, and sews capes and twirly dresses for his friends, and ends the day on the rooftop with a slice of cake, glad not for how much he did but for who he made feel seen.
